5000 Grand River Wins AIA Michigan Honor Award

The American Institute of Architects Michigan Chapter has recognized the 5K building with an Honor Award.

AIA Michigan honors excellence in architecture and innovation, recognizing projects that inspire both the profession and the public.

“Minimal and strategic interventions yield a delightful repurposing of space,” said the AIA jury. “Repurposing nondescript, big-box space (in this case, a grocery store) is a challenge and opportunity applicable in many communities. The project capitalized on the best attributes of the existing building while thoughtfully executing addition by subtraction. Throughout the project, raw and finished materials are combined with great effect.”

We are incredibly proud of this team’s work in transforming an abandoned grocery store into a boutique company headquarters, carving three distinctive courtyards into the structure, and flooding the interior with natural daylight.
