Baw Beese House Featured in Great Lakes By Design
Baw Beese House has been featured in Great Lakes By Design as part of The Custom Build (Volume 10, Issue 1).
The article includes an interview with David Iannuzzi, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, principal and founding partner of Disbrow Iannuzzi Architects, discussing the project’s approach to multigenerational living and its relationship to Baw Beese Lake.
“The hill drops so deeply that the canopy is almost at eye level. When you’re inside the house, you feel like you’re in the trees,” said Iannuzzi. “When you’re inside the house, you feel like you’re in the trees.”
He continues, “For us, the most important things are always the people and the place. We listen to our clients, and we listen to the land. Everything that follows is driven by a strong organizing idea. That’s what keeps the architecture calm and consistent.”
The home is organized as four compact volumes linked by glazed corridors, allowing movement between spaces to unfold alongside framed views of the surrounding trees and water. A palette of shou sugi ban cladding, black standing-seam roofing, and polished concrete floors creates a calm, consistent visual language.
