Site Visit to Hemlock House in Northern Michigan
Recent photos from our visit to the Hemlock House site near Petoskey, Michigan, as excavation and foundation work begin. The home is sited along the bluff above Walloon Lake.
The building footprint is being set within the existing topography, with foundations and pathways stepped to follow the natural grade and minimize disturbance to the surrounding hemlock and deciduous forest. Early work positions the home within a clearing while maintaining the tree canopy at its edges.
As construction progresses, the project will continue to prioritize on-site material use and ecologically responsible systems. More to come.
