Wallpaper Magazine Features Lakeside Residence

We’re excited to share that Wallpaper has featured Disbrow Iannuzzi’s Lakeside Residence for a second time. The editorial spotlights the home’s sculptural minimalism and connection to the client and site.

Set within a wooded site in Birmingham, Michigan, the 4,000 sq. ft. residence was designed as a permanent retreat for a former curator of Asian art. The article explores how the home’s Y-shaped plan, slate-wrapped exterior, finely grained white ash interiors, and choreographed sitelines create a living experience that is both quiet and powerful.

“Throughout the day, the stone exterior is transformed with the sun's movement. At some points in the day, the veining and variation within the stone are immediately obvious,” shared architect and studio co-founder Jonathan Disbrow. “When the sun is stronger and direct, the light and shadow across the surface of the wall accentuate the texture and dramatic character of the slate.”

This continued recognition reflects the studio’s dedication to site-responsive design, rich material expression, and homes that reflect the identity of their inhabitants. We’re proud to see Wallpaper revisit Lakeside Residence, and grateful to our client for allowing us to bring this vision to life.
