Lakeside Residence Named Finalist in 2026 Architizer A+Awards

Disbrow Iannuzzi is pleased to announce that Lakeside Residence has been named a finalist in the Architecture +Stone category at the 2026 Architizer A+Awards. This category recognizes projects that demonstrate excellence in the use of stone as a primary architectural material.

Located on a riverside site in Birmingham, Michigan, Lakeside Residence was designed for a former gallery owner and curator of Asian art. The home draws inspiration from the client's family history in the lumber industry and incorporates two primary materials: white ash and black slate.

The black slate was sourced from a single Virginia quarry and used throughout the home and landscape to reduce waste. It was split and cut for slate block walls, roof shingles, paving stones, and interior surfaces, while offcuts and smaller fragments were repurposed for the driveway, landscape edging, and drainage features.
